Outwaters Encampment, with Colonial Kids Games & Toys

Join historian Clarissa Dillon for a program on Colonial kids and their games! When 18th-century children were finished with their work, they enjoyed playing with toys and games. Some toys were made at home. Others were purchased. Some even came from Europe! Here is your chance to try some of their toys.

  • Try to catch the ball in the cup.

  • Put a challenging jigsaw puzzle together.

  • See reproduction dolls clothed in 18th century styles from England, and from Bethlehem PA.

  • Most exciting, children will be able to blow soap bubbles 18th-century style, as illustrated in several period paintings!

Clarissa will be a part of the Outwater’s Militia Revolutionary War Encampment at Washington Crossing State Park. Come and see the soldiers drill in preparation for action against his majesty’s troops. Stroll through the encampment when the soldiers are not drilling and learn about the life and times of the Revolutionary War!
