Native Plant Rescue
Help the WCPA Conservation Crew re-home plants ahead of the demo of the old Visitor Center!
Meet us at the Visitor Center Museum where we’ll be digging up perennials and shrubs like common milkweed, obedient plant, ostrich fern, and creeping mahonia from around the visitor center and moving them to safe locations so they can continue to flourish.
More shovels means more plants saved! Volunteers will have the opportunity to take plants home with them, too!

Outwaters Encampment, with Colonial Kids Games & Toys
Join historian Clarissa Dillon for a program on Colonial kids and their games! When 18th-century children were finished with their work, they enjoyed playing with toys and games. Some toys were made at home. Others were purchased. Some even came from Europe! Here is your chance to try some of their toys.
Try to catch the ball in the cup.
Put a challenging jigsaw puzzle together.
See reproduction dolls clothed in 18th century styles from England, and from Bethlehem PA.
Most exciting, children will be able to blow soap bubbles 18th-century style, as illustrated in several period paintings!
Clarissa will be a part of the Outwater’s Militia Revolutionary War Encampment at Washington Crossing State Park. Come and see the soldiers drill in preparation for action against his majesty’s troops. Stroll through the encampment when the soldiers are not drilling and learn about the life and times of the Revolutionary War!

Dentistry in Revolutionary America
Speaker: Marjory Wienkop
This program will teach some of the early history of dentistry, including prominent dentists and procedures, some of the instruments and medicines used, new innovations and prosthetics, and, of course, Washington's dental history.
The discussion will be simple enough for everyone, but those in the dental field are welcome to ask more technical questions at the end of the program. Everyone will come away with something they didn't know beforehand!
Marjy Wienkop was a dental technician for 20 years, and a dental assistant for four more. She is a medical and dental historian of the 18th and 19th centuries, and portrays a military surgeon in both Revolutionary War and Civil War, an 18th century civilian physician, and an 18th century chirurgeon-dentist.

Washington Crossing Riverbank Cleanup
As our area prepares for 2026 and the country’s 250th anniversary, Washington Crossing Historic Park in PA and Washington Crossing State Park in NJ are working hard to prepare for the many of thousands of visitors expected to our shores. We invite you to join us in getting these nationally-known historic sites ready for their close ups!
This event is rain or shine, and will only be cancelled in the case of severe weather. We’ll supply bug spray, but you’ll have to be on the lookout for poison ivy and slippery rocks, not to mention variable water levels and river currents. That’s what makes it FUN!
This event is a partnership of NJ’s Washington Crossing Park Association, PA’s Friends of Washington Crossing Park, and the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
This year’s event will be in NJ only…MEET US AT THE NEW JERSEY PARK’S NELSON HOUSE, on River Drive in Titusville, NJ. Directly next the NJ entrance of the Washington Crossing Bridge.
