This year marks America's 249th birthday, and Washington's Crossing is one of the greatest spots to celebrate!
The Park's Nelson House, on River Drive by the Washington Crossing Bridge, will be celebrating the Fourth of July from 1 to 4 pm with interpreters in period dress!
An 18th century Reverend will be reading the Declaration of Independence at 3 pm. Interpretive focus will be on what happened to the signers of this document, particularly the 5 signers from New Jersey.
They will also host Quill pen writing for children (and adults) and a tutor explaining education of the Rev War era.
At 2pm up at the Visitors Center, there will be a reading of the Declaration of Independence, followed by a Musket Firing. Also, you can celebrate the 4th by coloring Founding Father's Bookmarks! Color one or all 5 of the NJ signers of the Declaration of Independence! A craft table will be setup in the Visitors Center Museum during museum hours 9am -4pm all weekend.
All events are free. Don't forget that there are beautiful picnic areas and playgrounds in the park. We invite you to make a day of it!
